1914-D $20 Saint Gaudens Pre-33 Gold Double Eagle NGC MS65 Low Mintage 453,000

This better date is rare to find in this MS65 condition. A very small group were minted of 453,000 with many melted down and never put in circulation. This is a date most collections are missing from the Philadelphia Mint. The MS65 offered today is a nice value play under current market conditions. You won't find a better deal for this date.

The denomination was created as a means of exhausting an overage in gold supply due to the 1849 California Gold Rush. They were never intended for general use in commerce as the amount easily equated to a month's wage during the time of issue - making them impractical to carry as a coin. NGC Encapsulation offers protection and guarantees the MS-65 condition of the coin. Older NGC holder graded over 10 years ago. Ultra low Mintage of 453,000.

Conservatively graded in our opinion, PQ++ This is an amazing coin that's choice for the grade. Struck at the Denver Mint. Obverse: Depicts Liberty striding forward holding a torch and an olive branch with the U. Capitol building in the backdrop.

Reverse: Features an eagle in flight against the sun in the background. Beautiful color and very rare in this condition.
