Fresh to the market and recently back from PCGS Certification. This better date is really rare to find in PCGS MS65 condition. Only 2,774,295 were minted, many were melted down and never circulated. To hind high grade San Francisco Mint coinage is near impossible.

The denomination was created as a means of exhausting an overage in gold supply due to the 1849 California Gold Rush. They were never intended for general use in commerce as the amount easily equated to a month's wage during the time of issue - making them impractical to carry as a coin. PCGS encapsulation offers protection and guarantees the beautiful MS-65 condition of the coin. Looks nicer than many PCGS MS65 coins weve seen on the market. Conservatively graded in our opinion, PQ++.

Struck at the San Francisco Mint. Obverse: Depicts Liberty striding forward holding a torch and an olive branch with the U. Capitol building in the backdrop. Reverse: Features an eagle in flight against the sun in the background.
