1928 Saint Gaudens are more rare than those minted in such years as 1924 and 1927. Each of the coins is beautiful, at least to our eyes, with no copper spots or for that matter, or any other notable distractions. In the interests of 100% description accuracy, we do notice a faint dirt line on the far left of the obverse of coin number ending with -175; and a small dark spot to the left of Liberty's face (looking at the coin) on coin number -233. Both marks are slight, and almost certainly would have come off if the coins had received a mild Palmolive rinse prior to submission to NGC.
To us, these coins are extremely nice examples of MS64 Saint Gaudens coins. The NGC Certification numbers are: 1835910-175; 1835145-233 & 234. The holders are in fine condition. Some experts say that graded Saint Gaudens coins are the best way to hold gold, because it is highly unlikely that numismatic coins would be included in any kind of official gold recall or prohibition such as the one ordered by President Roosevelt in 1933. Therefore, they view graded Saint Gaudens coins as being a safer investment than bullion coins.
If ownership of bullion coins were ever disallowed, but ownership of graded, numismatic Saint Gaudens coins were not, the price of Saint Gaudens coins would have to skyrocket to meet surging, captive demand. We leave it to viewers to decide if this is an important factor to you, as you consider your precious metals investment options.
With premiums on Saints now at historic lows, the reasons for acquiring them are more compelling than ever. We package all items with great care.
