This better date is really tough to find in MS66+ condition. Only 1,702,250 were minted, many were melted down and never circulated.
This is a sleeper date much rarer than people realize. It will be hard to find a nicer coin than this MS66+, only a few graded higher. This is the kind of coin serious collectors search for. The denomination was created as a means of exhausting an overage in gold supply due to the 1849 California Gold Rush. They were never intended for general use in commerce as the amount easily equated to a month's wage during the time of issue - making them impractical to carry as a coin.
PCGS encapsulation offers protection and guarantees the MS66 condition of the coin. Plus (+) designation for amazing design detail and razor sharp strike. Conservatively graded in our opinion, PQ++.
