1908 Saint-Gaudens (No Motto) $20 Gold Double Eagle PCGS MS61

This coin was struck at the Philadelphia branch of the U. Actual Gold Weight 90% gold planchets. Public felt differently requiring Congress to act, adding the motto from late 1908 on. This it is the only widely available "no motto" issue.

The Double Eagle obverse features Liberty standing while holding a torch and an olive branch. An eagle in flight over the sun graces the "no motto" reverse.

Solid Mint State 61 in the "Old Green Holder" from PCGS. Mint State 61 example are lustrous, uncirculated examples. They will have some bag marks due to the storage of these coins in bank vaults overseas.

An "Old Green Holder" is an early generation PCGS holder. The coins are sought after because of the more strictly technical grading that occurred years ago.
